About Cobham Community Garden

We seek to encourage the community to live a greener lifestyle through pesticide-free produce and consumption, as well as through recycling, composting, reducing water use and waste.

We are a self-funded entity, a not-for-profit horticultural initiative. This means that we manage our gardens through community involvement, share our produce with our volunteers and sell our surplus at Cobham Farmers Market.

It is fun and sociable as well as providing exercise in the fresh air. Unlike your own garden, there is no regular commitment needed.

Our produce is as natural and local as we can make it, so you really are getting healthy fruit and vegetables from us.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the garden is as follows:

  • Bring the community together to grow fruit, flowers & vegetables.
  • Manage the garden in a sustainable way.
  • Be a welcoming green space for visitors & volunteers.
  • To educate new gardeners to learn new skills.
  • Improve local resilience by growing our own food.
  • Welcome old and young, those with disabilities or in need of respite.

Our Background

The idea of starting the garden originated from Transition Cobham in 2012.  It took three years of hard work to identify & negotiate the site, raise funds, gather volunteers and plan.

In September 2015 the fence was built and the gardens very first open day was on 17th October 2015.

Since then we have gradually transformed the grass site into a thriving & productive garden.

Friends & Supporters

Individuals, groups and companies have so generously supported us in many different ways.

We could not continue without their support and thank them all.
